In terms of art history, the roles of mother and father seem to be carved in stone. The Madonna and Child, the most frequently reproduced mother motif since the Middle Ages, shows a mother who stands for sacrifice and purity. The father, on the other hand, the head of the family, lays his hand protectively over the family. Fathers work. Fathers do not change diapers. Fathers can’t do much with a newborn and, above all, a father doesn’t talk about what it feels like to be a father.

The project was created as part of the Open Class: Blick und Berührung, and was presented as part of the ChangeOver exhibition series at the Faculty of Design Würzburg in the summer semester of 2023.
