Photography I (B)
Foundations of fine art photography I
This course explores the experimental and conceptual possibilities of photographic image design, taking into account an expanded concept of the image. The focus is on creative work with analogue, digital and immaterial image forms, as well as reflection on the history and present of image culture. Students learn to use photographic design tools such as composition, light, perspective and optics in a targeted manner. Artistic emphases include experimental approaches to light, material and space, the development of image series, portrait photography and experimental still lifes. Building on historical and particularly avant-garde positions in the history of photography, individual forms of expression are encouraged. The aim is to develop a conscious approach to photographic techniques, to reflect on one’s own visual language and to take independent positions in the current discourse on images.
