Ausstellung:
4000 Miles (2): Closeness Across Distance
22.1. - 4.2.25

Inspired by William James’s idea that we are »separate on the surface but connected in the deep«, 4000 Miles explores the evolving concept of closeness across distance.

This collaborative exhibition has brought together students from Herron School of Art and Design (Indiana, USA) and the Faculty of Design, THWS (Würzburg, Germany) to explore and navigate proximity through art and design.

Challenging traditional definitions, the exhibition delves into how technology reshapes our sense of connection. By looking into concepts of physical, emotional, and metaphorical closeness, participants reflect on the ways relationships can still be maintained across spatial distances. The works showcase interpretations of nearness, intimacy, and shared experiences through diverse media and object studies, representing a transcontinental dialogue.

The exhibition invites you to reflect on the various ways we remain close — even when physically separated. It showcases the work of seven interdisciplinary teams of students from the 1st to 5th semester.
