In the first semester, we explore the fundamentals of hand-drawn visual representation. Through a variety of short exercises, we approach the themes of the human figure, portraiture, and self-portraiture. We experiment with the fundamental principles of illustrative visual representation: line and form, image design (composition, proportion, impression, reduction), principles and strategies of adaptation, sketching, and notation.
