INBETWEEN
Rethinking exhibition design for sustainability
The course INBETWEEN gives you scope to find an exciting aspect of content that relates to transitions and in-between spaces in our world – be it in a physical, social or cultural sense or in a personal approach. ‘INBETWEEN’ opens up a creative field for exploring border zones, interfaces and transformations.
Your are invited to come up with innovative approaches and ideas to develop a design for a small exhibition or installation that integrates both analogue and digital levels of mediation. The aim is to find new ways in which media formats and virtual components can effectively extend the physical exhibition space for an individualised participatory experience beyond the exhibition venue.
A central aspect also is the material-economical and sustainable design, in which we intensively examine the possibilities of recycling materials. The result of your project can be a spatial installation that is either built in its original size for the semester exhibition, presented as a scale model or digitally simulated.
The question of what a sustainable exhibition could be like will accompany the course and the design process. A one-day excursion to museums and exhibitions is also planned to give you an insight into existing practices and innovative approaches.
If you have any questions about the course, I would be pleased to answer them on Monday, 30 September 24 between 14:00 and 15:00 via Zoom.
