Media and design analysis and strategic communication

Modul 5.2_Master Design and Information

The focus of this seminar (possibly with a high proportion of excursions) is on the current, complex projects from society that you yourself have motivated and brought in; are the descriptive, critical and also scientific examinations of the respective solutions with regard to all elements that are used in information design and design in a classic or innovative way.
— In addition, the examples are critically discussed, the current justification discussed and experimentally developed into alternatives, new approaches examined.

Procedure: Conduct and discuss analytical discussions, work out argumentation strategies in relation to the task situation and transfer them to the individual project solution strategy. E.g. under target group relevance; comprehensibility; media use and user-friendliness; honesty; ecology and sustainability; resource conservation; innovation; benefit-means ratio; need and economy; etc.

I will try to invite external professionals (three have been requested) who will report very honestly and in detail on current projects, how they came about, the need for compromises, control systems and much more, as well as the design. Strategic measures are also hoped for. We will then be able to use our “learned” analysis criteria to ask tough but heartfelt questions and to scrutinize, thus sparking an exciting discussion. This will give us, but also the speakers, considerable insights. We will also learn something about the communication strategy that is or should be behind everything.
In these discursive, observational and reflective master analysis rounds, you will actively acquire criteria for the independent, differentiated analysis of functional and effective modes in the respective current design, which you can then use to develop innovative and responsible future solutions yourself. You will be trained to think communicatively and develop appropriate communication strategies for your project.

The aim is: to question the choice and effect of media, organizational structures, possibilities of differentiated design, structure and preparation of complex content in different forms, to bring them together knowledgeably and to communicate directly with the target group.

Type of assessment: so.P.: Lecture/presentation and discussion of the seminar, visual-verbal elaboration on the analysis and possible forms of strategy, archiving, m.E/o.E.
