The power of diversity

Intercultural understanding as an enrichment

.

Cultural richness gives people access to the diversity of the world. However, dealing with cultural diversity also requires a critical assessment of one’s own patterns of thought and action and a review of personal attitudes. As part of an intercultural exchange, people not only experience similarities and commonalities, but also irritations and differences that need to be understood and, in the best case, broaden horizons.

This semester, we want to address the cultural differences of the participating students and learn from each other. What is special about your home country and how has this shaped you? How do you see these cultural differences (e.g. food, music, traditions, costumes, rituals, …)? What do you think could be interesting for people from other cultures? What is important to preserve despite increasing global uniformity and how do we communicate these added values to others?

In this international seminar, we want to discover cultural wealth together, analyze it, present it graphically and make it easily accessible to people from other backgrounds.

The final realization is based on the content and concept and is therefore not prescribed (exhibition, book, website, film, photography, … anything is possible).
