Theory of Science
Insights into positions in the theory of science
“The world is inconceivable without science, and design is hardly possible without scientific theory.” (Meier 2003: 15)
The seminar offers fundamental insights into positions in the theory of science through joint reading and thus creates the basis for an intensive examination of the concept of science.
The basic principles of design research are presented and illustrated by means of exemplary design projects. In addition, different reference disciplines are crystallized for the Master’s project, their terms, theories and methods are presented in presentations and discussed together. Central to this are questions of the adequate application of scientific methods, the interlinking of theory and practice in the design process, the generation of knowledge and social relevance.
Regular attendance is compulsory.
