Short biography
Claudia Frey studied Visual Communication at the University of Art and Design in Schwäbisch Gmünd from 1993 to 1997. After graduating, she worked as a project manager in the field of exhibition design for projects in Germany and abroad.
In 1999, she received a DAAD scholarship and studied scenic design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst in Zurich, where she completed her postgraduate degree in 2000. In the same year, Claudia Frey became managing partner of the office for museography and exhibition design Bertron Schwarz Frey. Since then, she has designed numerous museums, permanent and special exhibitions as well as signage and information systems.
From 2007 to 2010, she taught exhibition design at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Art and Design.
Since autumn 2010, she has been a professor for ‘Design in Space’ at the Faculty of Design at the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences.
She was a member of the Senate there from 2019 to 2023, Vice Dean from 2019 to 2023 and has been Dean of the Faculty of Design since autumn 2023.

- Head of the material library at the Faculty of Design
- Cooperation with the Chair of Museology at the University of Würzburg for various exhibition and research projects
- Reviewer in the HAW International programme of the DAAD
- Jury work for Deutsches Museum München, Landesgartenschau GmbH and others
- First aider for mental health at the Faculty of Design
