In a world that is increasingly permeated by digital technologies, interaction with digital devices plays a central role in people’s everyday lives. The use of smartphones in particular has profoundly changed daily life in recent decades and influenced human behavior in previously unknown dimensions. A central component of this development is the use of gesture controls on smartphones.

This work is based on the assumption that haptic and unfamiliar materials on touchscreens not only influence the way users interact, but can also open up new perspectives on the conscious experience and reflection of one’s own smartphone use.
