Ghosts
In this course, we draw ghosts!
‘We like to think we live in daylight, but half the world is always dark […]’
– Ursula K. Le Guin
In this course, we draw ghosts!
Poltergeists, hauntings, haunted castles, memories, ghouls, incantations, ectoplasm, horror stories, ghost trains, cobwebs, ancestors, nightmares, Beetlejuice, yūrei, chain rattling, will-o’-the-wisps: what do ghosts look like, what meanings do they have at different times and in different cultures?
We will explore how the supernatural has been and is depicted in images.
Afterwards, course participants will find aspects of the topic that they can illustrate.
Large and small, digital or analogue, narrative or striking projects are welcome;
they can be scary, political, poetic, fantastical or funny.
The main thing is that the intangible is captured in drawings!
