Illu Studio offers the opportunity to spend a semester working on a topic of your own choosing. This can result in both applied illustration projects and free artistic works. In addition to a basic sense of curiosity and a free spirit of inquiry, the prerequisite for this project course is a self-selected topic. This does not need to be fully formulated in advance; we can start with a rough idea or a specific interest (… which you should already have). We’ll work together to further develop and refine your topics over the course of the semester.

In this thematically open project work, we’ll critically examine our design processes and our artistic voice. We’ll get to know our individual strengths in presentation and storytelling better. What interests me? What are the themes of my artistic voice? What are the qualities of my visual language, and why does everyone else see them but I don’t? At which points in my project do I keep failing, and why? We’ll go through the entire process of illustrative project work and refine our individual artistic positions.
