Play
The illustrative playgroup
Design needs free, non-directed spaces for action. Artistic processes are rarely linear and calculable. If we want to arrive at outstanding solutions, we have to discard the familiar and endure uncertainties; we have to learn to work with them in order to see them as an opportunity for something new.
Acting playfully means trying out new perspectives and distancing ourselves from the familiar. Developing a playful attitude for creative processes is an individual learning process that needs to be tried out. It requires curiosity, openness and the courage to break away from established ideas and certainties. But intuition and diligence are just as important.
This course is aimed at all students who want to venture into new and uncertain territory. We practise the searching creative process and playfully develop a broad spectrum of aesthetic variance. We expand our technical skills and our illustrative vocabulary. We work in short workshop units with changing tasks throughout the semester.
