Fotografie und interdisziplinäre Ansätze

Open Class ist als fortlaufendes Format angelegt, das jedes Semester einen neuen Schwerpunkt legt. Wird die Fotografie oft als Medium des stillen Bildes bezeichnet, so wollen wir in diesem offenen Format die Fotografie im Kontext verschiedener gestalterischer und künstlerischer Praktiken diskutieren. Darstellungsformen wie Installation, Film, Zeichnung, Digitale Kontexte, können ebenso Gegenstand der offenen Klasse sein, wie ein konzentrierter fotografischer Ansatz.

Dieses Semester bildet das Motiv des Blicks und der Berührung das Zentrum des gemeinsamen Austauschs und Arbeitens. Ausgangspunkt ist sowohl der Besuch des European Month of Photography Berlin (EMOP), das diesjährig unter dem Leitmotiv „TOUCH“ steht, als auch die Beschäftigung mit Jean-Luc Nancy, der in seiner Philosophie dem Motiv der Berührung eine große Wichtigkeit verliehen hat, und dieses mit dem Denken mit und durch Bilder verknüpft.

Die Open Class ist ein offener Raum für Ihre Ideen und Schwerpunkte, für gestalterische Projektentwicklung, Austausch, Recherche und Inspiration. In einer Atmosphäre kooperativen Arbeitens, Zeigens, Diskutierens, Experimentierens und Lernens arbeiten Sie in erster Linie an ihren individuellen Projekten und lernen parallel verschiedene fotografische und gestalterische Positionen kennen.

Ein Fokus der Open Class liegt auch auf der Erprobung von Präsentationsformaten. Das bereits im Wintersemester etablierte Ausstellungsformat CHANGEOVER wird im Wechsel jeweils an einem Montagabend 19:30 an den großen Wänden im Lichthof West durch die Teilnehmenden fortgeführt. Im Rahmen einer kleinen Eröffnung bietet sich hier die Möglichkeit, die eigenen Projekte oder Arbeitsprozesse im Raum und an der Wand auszuprobieren und zur Diskussion zu stellen.

Zu dem Format Open Class sind explizit auch Studierende eingeladen, die sich Themenschwerpunkte in Hinblick auf ein kommendes Bachelorsemester erarbeiten möchten, oder die bereits erarbeitete Arbeitsfelder aus vorangegangenen Semestern weiter entwickeln wollen. Voraussetzung ist ein hohes Maß an eigenverantwortlicher Arbeit, sowie das Interesse am Schauen, Diskutieren und Teilen mit der Gruppe.

Vom 23.-26.3.2023 findet die Exkursion nach Berlin zum European Month of Photography statt. “Das EMOP Berlin feiert seine 10.Ausgabe mit 100 Ausstellungen in Berlin und Potsdam und hat diesjährig das Leitmotiv: TOUCH. Ganz nach diesem Motto bringt das Festival die unterschiedlichen Fotografie-Szenen Deutschlands, Europas und der Welt zusammen, und bietet die Chance, die vielfältigen Erscheinungsweisen des Mediums Fotografie kennenzulernen – sei es bei Talks und Paneldiskussionen der Opening Days oder bei Führungen und Ausstellungen in der ganzen Stadt. In der Jubiläumsausstellung TOUCH. Politiken der Berührung treffen Künstler*innen der Stadt Berlin aufeinander und die gemeinsame Ausstellung der Ausbildungsorte für Fotografie, Drängende Gegenwarten, gibt jungen Künstler*innen eine Stimme.“ (vgl. Open Class is designed as an ongoing format, with a new focus each semester. If photography is often referred to as the medium of the still image, in this open format we want to discuss photography in the context of various creative and artistic practices. Forms of representation such as installation, film, drawing, digital contexts, can be as much the subject of the open class as a concentrated photographic approach.

This semester, the motif of gaze and touch forms the center of the joint exchange and work. The starting point is both the visit of the EMOP Berlin – European Month of Photography, which this year has the leitmotif “TOUCH”, and the preoccupation with Jean-Luc Nancy, who in his philosophy gave great importance to the motif of touch, linking it to thinking with and through images.

The Open Class is an open space for your ideas and focus, for creative project development, exchange, research and inspiration. In an atmosphere of cooperative working, showing, discussing, experimenting and learning you will primarily work on your individual projects and in parallel get to know different photographic and design positions.

Another focus of the Open Class is the testing of presentation formats. The exhibition format CHANGEOVER, which was already established in the winter semester, will be continued by the participants on Monday evenings on the large walls in the atrium west. In the context of a small opening, this offers the opportunity to try out one’s own projects or work processes in the space and on the wall and to put them up for discussion.

The Open Class format is explicitly open to students who would like to focus on a particular topic in preparation for an upcoming bachelor’s semester, or who would like to further develop areas of work they have already worked on in previous semesters. The prerequisite is a high degree of independent work, as well as an interest in looking, discussing and sharing with the group.

From 23-26.3.2023 the excursion to Berlin for the European Month of Photography will take place. “The EMOP Berlin celebrates its 10th edition with 100 exhibitions in Berlin and Potsdam and has this year’s leitmotif: TOUCH. True to this motto, the festival brings together the different photography scenes of Germany, Europe and the world, and offers the chance to get to know the diverse manifestations of the medium of photography – be it at talks and panel discussions of the Opening Days or at guided tours and exhibitions throughout the city. In the anniversary exhibition TOUCH. Politiken der Berührung (Politics of Touch), artists from the city of Berlin meet each other, and the joint exhibition of the training centers for photography, Drängende Gegenwarten (Pressing Presence), gives young artists a voice.” (cf. press release EMOP)
