Your vision of sustainable architecture
This work explores the extent to which the potential of sustainable building can be communicated interactively and inspiringly to future private builders. The first question is: How do we want to live? It then looked at the status quo of sustainability in the building sector, worked out the implementation problems and examined the realisation of sustainable building, taking into account structural, economic and social aspects.
The result is re.form – a modular kit that teaches the basics of sustainable building by combining analogue components with digital objects and content. The target group of private builders can get a comprehensive picture of their own building project by constructing an individual model, which helps them to plan more concretely and facilitates communication with planners and architects.

re.form combines analogue knowledge (carrier) cards with an app and animated augmented reality (AR) elements. Using the knowledge cards, future builders can learn all the important aspects of sustainable building, from materials science to biodiversity, piece by piece or carrier by carrier. Each card can be scanned into the corresponding re.form app, which is the interface to the actual learning content. All content is structured so that the order and depth of information can be adapted to the user’s individual needs and time resources. Each topic block ends with a reflection task on the relevance of the learning to the user’s own project. These personal reflections become visible as AR elements in the resulting model, literally enlivening one’s own vision of sustainable living.
